
David Bozzo David Bozzo is a composer and violinist based in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona, Spain), born on 1980
He followed part of his music studies at the Conservatorio Municipal de Música de Barcelona with the composers Xavier Boliart, Carles Guinovart and Albert Sardà among others. David also studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Castellón (Valencia, Spain) with the composers Ferrer Ferran, Claudia Montero, César Cano and Emilio Calandín among others. He also studied violin with the violinists Francesc Guarné, Iwona Burzyñska and Eduard Arnau.
As a composer he has developed a freelance career with premieres in some countries. His works include music for solo instrument and chamber music as well as symphonic orchestral works (with and without soloist) and incidental music for theatre. He has received commissions from prestigious musicians and ensembles such as the flutist Patricia de No, Orquestra Simfónica Sant Cugat, Banda Municipal de Música de Palma de Mallorca (actually Simfovents Palma), The Angel Orchestra and London City Quartet among others.
Within his catalogue of works it is worth highlighting Adagio y Fuga (2012) premiered in the UK and Spain and performed on several occasions, a Violin Concerto (2013) premiered in 2015 in St. James’s Church Piccadilly by the violinist Francisco Jimeno with the orchestra Philharmonia Britannica conducted by Peter Fender, Pendus for violin and wind orchestra (2015) commissioned by the Banda Municpal de Música de Palma de Mallorca and performed on several occasions, Légende n.1 (2019) commissioned by the Orquestra Simfònica Sant Cugat, Preludio y Fuga for flute and piano (2022) commissioned by the flutist Patricia de No and premiered in a concert of the 11th concert serie Els Teus Classics that organizes Associació Joan Manén, and music for violin and piano for the play La Vida en un Tren (2018) by playwright Víctor Alexandre to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the train to the city of Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona, Spain). Furthermore, there are 2 albums with recordings of his music, both available on Spotify: One featuring all David Bozzo works for solo violin, recorded by the violinist Francisco Jimeno on 2014; and the other one was recorded in 2018 by the London City Quartet featuring two string quartets, commissioned by the British string quartet Billroth String Quartet in 2011 and the London City Quartet in 2017 respectively.
David Bozzo combines his compositional career with instrumental teaching. He has taught violin in academies and privately since 2003, and is currently violin and piano teacher at European International School of Barcelona, organizing the Trinity Music Exams sessions, accompanying students for Trinity College of London examinations and performances. He also has composed music for the school students choir; recently for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the school has composed and orchestrated music for symphonic orchestra, children choir and ballet.
