BIOGRAPHY

David Bozzo (Barcelona, 1980) is a composer and orchestrator whose catalogue ranges from symphonic and chamber music to music for theatre and ballet. His work is articulated through a personal musical language and a dramaturgical conception of music, understood as the structuring of time and scenic discourse.

Creativity, Form and Dramaturgy

His creative process often begins with a dramatic moment, understood not so much from a theatrical perspective as from the audience’s experience and the way the musical discourse is perceived over time. He conceives music as a wordless narrative with a clear structural function, based on the creation and prolongation of tension until its final resolution.

Bozzo understands musical form as narrative, but also as a direct consequence of the musical material itself. While he shows an affinity for closed and clearly identifiable forms, his writing frequently incorporates more open elements that reappear or transform throughout a work, sometimes in formally unexpected places, altering the listener’s perception of musical time. His language, tonal in basis and with melody playing a central role, adapts to each creative context, always maintaining attention to the coherence of the material, the clarity of the discourse, and expressive impact.

Collaborations, Performers and Works

Throughout his career, collaboration with performers and directors has been fundamental. In theatre and ballet, his work is developed in close collaboration with directors and choreographers, shaping the music to the dramaturgical needs of each moment and refining the final result through constant dialogue. His music has been performed by ensembles and soloists such as the Orquesta Sinfónica de Sant Cugat, Banda Municipal de Música de Palma, London City Quartet, Patricia De No, Francisco Jimeno, as well as the Orquesta de Valencia and the Orquesta de Extremadura.

Among his works, Bozzo highlights the ballet Nit de Llum (December 2025); Concierto para violín (March 2015), premiered in the UK; Sonata para violín solo (2014); Preludio y Fuga para flauta y piano (2022); Bresol de Nadal (December 2024); and the stage production Per Nadal fem el Poema (December 2016), which he has conducted for ten years, combining dramatized declamation, music, and voice. Some of his works are published and available on streaming platforms.

Looking Ahead

With premieres and collaborations outside Spain, Bozzo remains open to new commissions and musical projects across all fields — from orchestral and chamber music to theatre and ballet — exploring new ideas, formats, and collaborations that allow him to continue developing his creative career.
